Bonny Lynne - from Dragon Age: Origins
“Bonny Lynne” is the poem chanted by the little boy in the somewhat disquieting village of Haven. From the first time I heard it, I thought it was just begging to be set to music.
So, I did.
The words strike me as a vaguely menacing nursery rhyme, although this setting is more like a lullaby or dirge. I might do another version later, more sing-song-y and reminiscent of a children’s song. I also saved a version with the “pop vocals” setting turned on, which makes it sound a bit more eerie. I will probably upload that one tomorrow (since Tumblr will only let me put one song per day on their server).
Lyrics from the game; original melody and vocals by me.
Bonny Lynne
Come, come, bonny Lynne; tell us, tell us where you’ve been
Were you up, were you down, chasing rabbits ‘round the town?Come, come, bonny Lynne; tell us, tell us where you’ve been.
Come, come, bonny Lynne; we’ve a bed to put you in.It is soft, it is warm. It will shelter from the storm.
Come, come, bonny Lynne; we’ve a bed to put you in.
Dear, dear, bonny Lynne sleeps the peaceful crib within.A mossy stone, a finger bone. No one knows but Lynne alone.
Come, come, bonny Lynne; we’ve a bed to put you in.
Dear, dear, bonny Lynne sleeps the peaceful crib within.
Dear, dear, bonny Lynne sleeps the peaceful crib within.
